Job Detail

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and maintain oversight of day-to-day operations of all laboratory services at the state level.
  • Provide technical support, supervision, monitoring, and quality assurance of laboratory service operations.
  • Contribute to the development of lessons learned from programs and projects related to laboratory management of HIV/AIDS.
  • Represent Fhi 360 on issues of laboratory management of HIV/AIDS at the state level.
  • Monitor the quality of laboratory operations and testing in supported facilities.
  • Assist facility staff in overseeing day-to-day quality assurance and quality control of laboratory operations.
  • Support the QA officers in designing and implementing oversight practices.
  • Collate, review, and report facility reports.
  • Provide assistance in analysis of monitoring/audit results.
  • Work closely with M&E and other lab staff to ensure laboratory quality-related data is captured.
  • Participate in EQA and proficiency testing activities.
  • Facilitate routine PPM and service/equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure universal safety precautions are followed and biological waste is properly disposed of.
  • Provide technical assistance in capacity building for laboratory services.
  • Provide technical support on blood safety and laboratory quality assurance issues.

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical laboratory functions and quality management systems.
  • Knowledge of health and development programs in developing countries, particularly Nigeria.
  • Experience in managing laboratory services, including quality assurance systems and laboratory analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment and techniques for HIV testing, TB species identification, and drug resistance.
  • Knowledge of DHIS and LIMS is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others and develop and maintain compatibility among project staff and collaborators.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of USAID and PEPFAR funded programs.
  • Experience in the INGO sector.
  • Familiarity with the Nigerian public sector health system and NGOs.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Sciences or related field.
  • Certification/license to practice as a medical laboratory scientist.

Experience Requirements

  • 5-7 years of post-national youth service experience with a minimum of 3 years in HIV/AIDS laboratory support.
  • For a Master's degree, 3-5 years of post-national youth service experience with a minimum of 3 years in HIV/AIDS laboratory support.
