In the Sokoto region, MSF is dedicated to providing critical medical and humanitarian assistance to communities in need. As part of our commitment to these communities, we are seeking a dedicated and motivated Health Promoter, IEC Officer to join our team. This role is essential in informing and educating patients and communities about MSF and the services we provide.

The Health Promoter, IEC Officer will play a vital role in implementing health education and awareness activities under the guidance of the HP Supervisor. This includes delivering information on specific health topics to patients and the community, organizing awareness sessions in schools, churches, and community centers, and assessing the impact of these activities. By collecting and analyzing information related to the health and living conditions of the population, the Health Promoter, IEC Officer will help identify the most vulnerable populations and target them for support.

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of activities, reporting any challenges or successes to the HP Supervisor, and establishing contacts with social partners, including other NGOs and governmental health services. Additionally, you will participate in the creation of educational and communication materials, ensuring they are appropriate and effective for the target audience.

Your work will involve close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, daily planning and feedback sessions, and data collection through various research methods. You will also be responsible for planning and following up on visits with community members, ensuring that a person-centered and community-based approach is incorporated into all communications. Adhering to MSF protocols and principles, including confidentiality, is crucial in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Inform patients and communities about MSF and services it provides.
  • Deliver information on specific health topics to patients and the community.
  • Implement health education and awareness activities under the guidance of the HP Supervisor.
  • Assess the impact of activities and report findings to the HP Supervisor.
  • Collect information related to the health and living conditions of the population.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with social partners, including other NGOs and governmental health services.
  • Participate in the creation of educational and communication materials.
  • Plan and organize community engagement sessions with key community members.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on data collection and research methods.
  • Perform administrative duties related to recording and reporting data.
  • Attend trainings and ensure effective communication with community groups and individuals.
  • Incorporate a person-centered and community-based approach into all communications.
  • Adhere to MSF protocols and principles, including confidentiality.
  • Report challenges in the community to the HP Supervisor and HP Manager.

Qualifications
