In Kano, Nigeria, Malaria Consortium is seeking a dedicated Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) and Vitamin A Supplementation (VAS) initiatives. This role involves providing technical assistance, training health facility workers and community drug distributors (CDDs), ensuring timely delivery of commodities, and maintaining rigorous documentation and adherence to administration protocols.
The M&E Officer will interact with the State Ministry of Health and Local Government Area (LGA) management teams, keeping them updated on program progress and ensuring high-quality SMC-VAS integrated implementation. This role requires collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve project targets and objectives, as well as participation in project assessments, evaluations, and research components.
Job Detail
Responsibilities
- Provide supportive supervision and training to health facility workers, supervisors, and CDDs.
- Ensure timely delivery of SMC and VAS commodities and supplies.
- Conduct on-the-job capacity building and documentation of program activities.
- Ensure adherence to SMC and VAS administration protocols.
- Collaborate with the State Ministry of Health and LGA management teams to update on program progress.
- Collect, collate, and report data and information to achieve project targets.
- Update data collection forms and support the digitization of SMC-VAS co-implementation.
- Plan and conduct regular data quality assessments.
- Provide technical assistance and capacity building for state and LGA level implementers.
- Participate in project assessments, evaluations, and development of survey protocols.
- Review and correct distributors' tally sheets and enter data into relevant platforms.
- Address data quality queries and ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Submit reports to line managers and State Project Manager on project implementation.
- Support the implementation research component of the project.

Qualifications
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience in implementing research studies.
- Familiarity with Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) in low and middle-income countries.
- Experience in working with government and non-government partners.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, Public Health, or a related field.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years post-qualification experience.
- At least 7 years of experience working in a research role.
- Previous public health sector experience in sub-Saharan Africa.
Skills
- Excellent qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills.
- Strong writing skills with at least one publication in an international peer-reviewed journal.
- Familiarity with software such as STATA, R, or Statgraphics, CSPro, Power BI, Atlas ti, NVIVO, and GIS mapping.
- Excellent command of English with strong writing and communication skills.
- Practical organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Computer literacy, including high proficiency in MS Office and Stata.
