As part of our commitment to excellence and sustainable growth, we are seeking a Specialist, HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) to join our team in Kaduna, Nigeria.
The Specialist, HSE will play a crucial role in implementing and continuously improving our HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, standards, and industry best practices. This position is vital for conducting risk assessments, identifying hazards, and evaluating risks to implement effective controls that reduce risks to acceptable levels. The successful candidate will lead safety incident investigations, root cause analyses, and develop corrective actions to enhance safety performance across our operations.
Key responsibilities include overseeing safety and environmental management systems, conducting safety training programs, and facilitating regular inspections and audits of depot facilities. The Specialist, HSE will stay abreast of local, state, and federal regulations related to health, safety, and environmental standards in the telecommunications sector, ensuring that IHS Towers remains compliant and proactive in maintaining a safe working environment.
The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement safety improvements and process enhancements. As the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and external auditors, the Specialist, HSE will ensure effective communication and compliance during inspections and audits. Additionally, this role involves implementing pollution and environmental controls, maintaining accurate HSE KPI records, and providing regular updates on the status of HSE programs.

Job Detail
Responsibilities
- Implement and improve HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify hazards and evaluate risks.
- Lead safety incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Implement comprehensive safety training programs.
- Oversee safety and environmental management systems.
- Facilitate regular inspections and audits of facilities.
- Stay updated with relevant regulations and standards.
- Conduct drills and simulations for emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for safety improvements.
- Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies and auditors.
- Implement pollution and environmental controls.
- Maintain accurate HSE KPI records.
- Advise on legislation and industrial standards.
- Act as the subject matter lead for Process Hazard Analysis.
- Provide safety leadership and guidance to staff.
- Prepare regular updates on HSE programs.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Senior Manager, HSE.
Job Requirements

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant and progressive experience in an HSE role.
- Mandatory experience in the Oil and Gas Industry.
- Highly desirable ISO certificates (ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018).
- Valid NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) and Process Safety Management (PSM).
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years in an HSE role.
- Experience in the Oil and Gas Industry.
