The Yard Manager will play a critical role in managing the full life cycle of resource management, overseeing procurement, maintenance, and dispatching activities. This position is integral to ensuring the smooth operation of mechanical and maintenance shops, timely servicing of company equipment, and effective coordination of site security measures. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership and supervisory skills, demonstrating the ability to motivate teams and improve the quality of work.
Job Detail
Responsibilities
- Manage the full life cycle for resource management, from purchase ordering through delivery and usage
- Ensure timely procurement of all construction-related materials and services
- Oversee the effective operation of mechanical/maintenance shops
- Ensure all company equipment/vehicles are up to date on servicing and able to perform effectively
- Ensure timely service of all relevant equipment/vehicles/property
- Perform selected preventive facility maintenance and ensure upkeep and maintenance of the yard, parking areas, and buildings
- Oversee the scheduling and delivery of company-owned or rented equipment, tools, and supplies to job sites
- Manage yard, shop, and dispatch personnel as assigned by the VP of Field Operations
- Evaluate work of yard operations employees and participate in disciplinary actions as necessary
- Coordinate site/location security measures
- Oversee the formal tracking and inventory of company property

Qualifications
- 4-year degree in Construction or related field
- Proven knowledge of procurement activities, inventory, and resource management
- Ability to work effectively with minor supervision
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and good relationship-building skills
- Self-starter with the ability to motivate others to improve their quality of work
- Excellent team player
- Well organized with excellent time management skills

Education Requirements
- 4-year degree in Construction or related field
Experience Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in Construction including extensive experience overseeing shop/maintenance and yard operations, dispatching, and purchasing activities
- Extensive experience as a lead superintendent highly desired
