Smit Lamnalco, renowned for its safe and efficient towage and associated marine services to offshore oil and gas terminals, brings over 20 years of operational experience in Nigeria. Their diversified fleet of approximately 170 vessels includes AHTS, tugs, multi-purpose offshore vessels, supply boats, crew boats, dive support vessels, and other specialized craft.
As a Junior Technical Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing and executing day-to-day maintenance and repair (M&R) activities of assigned vessels within the stipulated time frame and budget. Your role is crucial to maintaining the technical reliability and maximizing the utilization of the fleet. You will coordinate preventive maintenance activities, monitor planned maintenance systems, and ensure repair jobs are created, updated, and closed out in the MARAD system. Additionally, you will supervise and instruct Chief Engineers, conduct periodic vessel inspections, and prepare comprehensive reports on the technical status of the vessels.
Your expertise will be vital in investigating and analyzing the root causes of technical issues, arranging statutory surveys, and ensuring compliance with client inspections and vessel certifications. You will oversee third-party contractors, guide vessel crew, and promote safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) standards. Working closely with the Contract Manager and the Regional Technical Manager, you will ensure the operational integrity of the vessels and the smooth running of contracts. Furthermore, you will manage the yearly running M&R budget, prepare appraisals for Chief Engineers, and actively participate in company training programs.

Responsibilities
- Manage and execute day-to-day maintenance and repair activities for assigned vessels.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance onboard vessels.
- Monitor and follow up on planned maintenance systems in MARAD.
- Supervise, coach, and instruct Chief Engineers onboard.
- Conduct periodic vessel inspections and compile reports.
- Investigate and analyze root causes of technical defects.
- Arrange statutory surveys and ensure vessel readiness for client inspections.
- Supervise and evaluate third-party contractors.
- Guide crew to meet company standards and specifications.
- Ensure compliance with vessel certifications.
- Update and maintain repair lists in MARAD.
- Control monthly inputs in SLDox.
- Manage changes to vessel equipment through MoC.
- Promote SHEQ awareness and monitor performance.
- Cooperate with Contract Manager for vessel reliability.
- Prepare and control the yearly running M&R budget.
- Prepare appraisals for Chief Engineers.
- Follow the Safety Management System (SLIMS).
- Visit vessels offshore for checks, investigations, and inspections.

Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering / Naval Architecture background.
- Former Chief Engineer on Offshore Support Vessels.
- 3-5 years of verifiable experience as a Technical Superintendent / Port Engineer.
