Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is a local non-governmental organization incorporated in Nigeria in 2009 with registration number CAC/NO/33391 and headquartered in Nigeria’s federal capital territory, Abuja. AHNi was established with a mission to promote socioeconomic development by supporting a broad range of global health interventions, education, research, and economic initiatives in Nigeria. As an allied organization to Family Health International (FHI360), AHNi shares the collective goals of advancing the well-being of the people and communities it serves.

AHNi collaborates with government agencies, international and local partners to combat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria; expand access to reproductive health; strengthen healthcare delivery systems; increase food security; and improve education for children. With its head office in Abuja and state offices across five geo-political zones of Nigeria, AHNi has developed extensive experience in managing health, education, nutrition/livelihoods, and protection projects funded by major donors like USAID, CDC, Global Fund, UNICEF, FCDO, TAConnect, UNHCR, and UNFPA.

The Senior Technical Officer will provide technical leadership and support related to clinical management strategies for HIV/AIDS within AHNi programs. The role involves working with stakeholders to design and implement facility-based programs focusing on HIV/AIDS clinical management, including the use of anti-retroviral treatment, PMTCT, care, and support. The officer will also coordinate community-based programs related to community HIV Testing Services (HTS) and PMTCT, optimizing HIV case finding and linkage to care at supported health facilities.

The Senior Technical Officer will liaise with partners implementing community programs to optimize community-facility linkage of clients identified as HIV positive and ensure retention in care and treatment. The officer will support the provision of Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and ART in line with national and global best practices and guidelines. Technical assistance will also be provided in non-ART clinical care, including the management of opportunistic infections (OI) and palliative care capacity for People Living with HIV (PLHIV).

Furthermore, the Senior Technical Officer will contribute to developing program strategies, subproject documents, work plans, and budgets, and represent AHNi to donors and government officials on HIV/AIDS treatment, care, and support issues at the state level.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and support for HIV/AIDS clinical management.

Qualifications

  • MB.BS / MD or similar degree in clinical care.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in clinical care with a focus on HIV/AIDS.
  • Experience with HTS, PMTCT, ART, TB HIV collaboration, and care in resource-constrained settings.
  • MPH or postgraduate degree in a related field (advantageous).
  • Experience in project development and training facilitation.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian public sector health systems, NGOs, and CBOs.

Education Requirements
