Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious international NGO dedicated to helping civilians marginalized or excluded due to natural disasters, war, and economic collapse. PUI’s mission is to defend basic human rights as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948). We provide humanitarian assistance to those in need, regardless of political, religious, or ethnic backgrounds.

As the Protection Coordinator based in Maiduguri, Nigeria, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing the mission's operational Protection strategy. You will ensure the quality of current and future Protection programmes throughout their design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation phases. Your role includes building the capacity of the Protection department and providing technical support to project teams, particularly the Protection Project Managers. You will represent PUI to authorities, humanitarian actors, and donors for the Protection sector. Additionally, you will work closely with other technical coordinators and the MEAL department to ensure that protection mainstreaming principles are integrated into all PUI interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the mission's Protection strategy.
  • Ensure the quality of Protection programmes during design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Build capacity within the Protection department.
  • Provide technical support to project teams and Protection Project Managers.
  • Represent PUI to authorities, humanitarian actors, and donors.
  • Monitor Protection activities and analyze their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Ensure Protection mainstreaming in all PUI interventions.
  • Recruit and train technical staff in Protection.
  • Ensure compliance with logistic and administrative procedures.
  • Share security-related information and contribute to compliance with security rules.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Experience in environments with protection threats.
  • Experience working with Première Urgence Internationale (preferred).

Skills

  • Mastery of project management.
  • Proficiency in quality monitoring and team management.
  • Capacity to deliver trainings on protection.
  • Understanding of institutional donors' procedures (UN agencies, ECHO, EuropAid, OFDA, AAP).
