The Utilities Process Artisan role is vital in ensuring the efficient operation of our process area, maintaining the highest standards of quality control, and performing routine maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical or mechanical engineering, extensive experience in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Job Detail
Responsibilities
- Operate the process area according to work instructions and usage standards
- Perform required quality checks as per quality control and analysis work practice
- Record waste on appropriate documentation or information systems, and review waste trends to identify problems or opportunities
- Constantly review process performance against targets and complete all short interval control documentation
- Respond rapidly to upstream or downstream triggers that result in stoppages
- • Apply appropriate problem-solving approaches as detailed in the problem-solving work practice
- Perform housekeeping tasks, apply 5s principles, and follow safe work practices
- Identify and correct unsafe work practices
- Assist team members in executing their tasks
- Conduct in-depth cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of machines according to work instructions and schedules
- Carry out routine maintenance activities as per the maintenance schedule
- Escalate larger problems to the team leader if unable to resolve
- Monitor trends during routine maintenance and take corrective action
- Carry out non-destructive quality checks and analyses
- Record the results of quality checks and escalate issues that cannot be resolved
- Participate actively in shift meetings, contribute suggestions, and use communication media to stay informed
- Apply problem-solving techniques to identify and correct problems
- Use run/control charts and trend analysis to identify sources of waste and variation
- Identify opportunities to simplify activities and record them on the team gap list

Qualifications
- Proven ability to solve problems on FMCG machines
- Ability to communicate technical knowledge to operation staff, improving their skill sets
- Experience in training, coaching, and mentoring operation staff on ATO and 5s principles
- Ability to optimize usages and reduce wastage with permanent solutions
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams
- Excellent self-management practices
- Proficiency in problem-solving using tools like 5 Why and fishbone analysis
- Ability to reduce machine downtime and ensure permanent solutions
- Proficiency in analyzing graphical data and identifying gaps to improve performance
- Knowledge of electronic communication devices and software
- Understanding of camera technology and various algorithms
- Familiarity with bus systems such as Asibus, Profibus, Canbus, Ethernet, EtherCAT (for Electrical and Instrument roles)
Education Requirements
- B.Sc./HND/B.Tech in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
Experience Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in an FMCG environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Minimum of 2 years working experience in manufacturing
Skills
- Ability to communicate well and work in teams
- Ability to adhere to instructions and work with minimum supervision
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to use electronic communication devices and software
- Knowledge of maintenance and quality control procedures
