The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with over 60 years of experience in helping to create safer and more dignified lives for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, emergency food security, and water, sanitation, and hygiene sectors.

The Violence Coordinator will lead the Protection from Violence (PfV) team in implementing various protection activities in Adamawa State. The role includes project cycle management, team leadership, coordination with external stakeholders, and ensuring the technical quality of protection services. This position requires a deep understanding of community-based protection approaches, case management, and psychosocial support. The successful candidate will work closely with local authorities, partner NGOs, and community leaders to advocate for the rights of displaced persons and improve their access to essential services.

The NRC’s PfV program supports communities' right to freedom from violence, coercion, and deliberate deprivation. It aims to prevent or mitigate the consequences of violence and provide dedicated support to individuals, households, and communities when violence does occur. The coordinator will ensure effective implementation of PfV projects, focusing on case management, individual protection assistance, and protection monitoring. This role requires excellent planning, prioritization, and multitasking skills, along with a strong understanding of protection issues affecting target populations.

Job Detail

Responsibilities

  • Line management of protection activities in Adamawa State.
  • Adherence to NRC policies, guidance, and procedures.
  • Contribute to protection strategy development and project proposals.
  • Manage and implement a delegated portfolio of Protection from Violence projects.
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Project Development Manager and Area Manager.
  • Ensure projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection.
  • Ensure capacity building of project staff.
  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders.
  • Promote the rights of displaced persons in line with the advocacy strategy.
  • Manage the PfV team, providing training, guidance, and mentoring.
  • Identify trends and needs that highlight the need for protection monitoring and analysis activities.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee community-based protection networks.
  • Analyze protection case management and monitoring databases to identify trends.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor budgeting, expenditure, and expense tracking.
  • Represent NRC in coordination structures at the area level.
  • Contribute to developing concept notes, proposals, and generate protection project reports.
  • Participate in periodic program reviews and planning meetings.

Qualifications
