Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is a local non-governmental organization that was established in 2009 with the mission to promote socioeconomic development by supporting a broad range of global health interventions, education, research, and economic initiatives in Nigeria. With its headquarters in Abuja, AHNi collaborates with government agencies, international and local partners to combat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, expand access to reproductive health, strengthen healthcare delivery systems, increase food security, and improve education for children. The organization’s state offices across five geo-political zones in Nigeria are managed and operationally supported by the head office in Abuja. Over the years, AHNi has gained extensive experience and competence working with other organizations in the fields of health, education, nutrition/livelihoods, and protection. The organization manages projects funded by major donors including USAID, CDC, Global Fund, UNICEF, FCDO, TAConnect, UNHCR, and UNFPA.

As part of the Global Fund Grant Cycle GC7, AHNi is working to ensure a coordinated and intensive effort to scale up the prevention, identification, and treatment of HIV among both general and key populations in Anambra state. The project focuses on facility and community-based approaches to reach epidemic control and improve coverage of pregnant women on ART, as well as target key populations (KP) and adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) programs.

The Project Driver will play a crucial role in providing transportation support to the project staff and consultants. This position involves ensuring the safety, cleanliness, security, and maintenance of the project vehicle assigned, as well as adhering to all driving regulations. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5-6 years of driving experience, a valid driving license, and expert knowledge of driving rules and regulations. Experience as a driver mechanic and with large complex organizations is preferred.

Job Detail

Responsibilities

  • Provide transportation support to project staff and consultants.
  • Convey project staff and consultants to designated approved locations.
  • Ensure adequate safety, cleanliness, security, and maintenance of the project vehicle assigned.
  • Ensure proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
  • Ensure availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, and necessary spare parts.
  • Plan routes and requirements by studying schedule or ad-hoc requests by the office.
  • Ensure passengers adhere to all road safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • Secondary School Leaving Certificates, apprentice certificate, or any other equivalent certificates.

  • Trade Test Certificate.
  • Valid Driving License.

  • Experience as a driver mechanic (preferred).
